Folio is an early-access book-writing and formatting service from Wide Orchard. Payment receipts may show Wide Orchard. For account, billing, refund or privacy requests, use our support form and keep the reference. Account emails are sent as Folio from folio@wideorchard.com; that address is not a support inbox.

What the product includes

AI outlines, chapter drafts and chapter rewrites; manual editing and chapter organisation; six starting templates, six cover palettes, typography and page-size controls; your own cover and chapter images; text imports from DOCX, text-based PDF, TXT, Markdown and HTML; PDF, EPUB, Markdown and HTML exports; manuscript backups and version snapshots. AI image generation, audio/video transcription, interactive flipbooks, automatic website import and automatic publication to stores are not included.

You retain rights in content you provide and may use downloaded output, subject to rights in any underlying content. You must have permission to import text or images. Review factual claims, originality, formatting and publishing-platform requirements before publication. Folio does not verify sources or guarantee original, accurate, publishable or profitable output. PDF export currently targets English/Latin-script text; EPUB supports wider Unicode. Imports retain text, not complex layout, embedded images or scanned-page OCR.

Prices, renewals & lifetime

Monthly plans are Essentials $29 with 160 AI writing credits, Creator $39 with 320, Studio $49 with 640 and Business $99 with 1,600 per successfully paid billing month. Prices are USD; any tax charged is shown before payment. Monthly plans renew until canceled. Cancel future renewals through Account & billing → Manage billing. Paid monthly credits remain available through the verified paid period and do not roll over. A failed payment does not refill credits. Only one monthly subscription may be active per account; changing plans requires ending the current subscription first.

Lifetime Starter is $49 once: core studio access for the lifetime of the Folio service and 160 starter AI credits once. It has no recurring studio fee and no monthly AI refill. “Lifetime” does not mean the purchaser’s lifetime, unlimited AI, guaranteed perpetual hosting, or inclusion of all future premium features. Additional writing requires an available paid monthly plan; standalone credit top-ups are not currently offered.

Free accounts can save three projects and use preview exports. Paid accounts can save fifty projects, including trash, and remove preview notices from original books. Prepared demo content remains identified as a sample. After monthly access ends, existing books stay editable and downloadable with preview export notices; your previously downloaded files stay yours. Refund requests are reviewed individually through support; there is no unconditional money-back guarantee. This policy does not limit rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. Full refunds revoke the corresponding paid allowance/access.

Writing allowances & fair use

An outline uses 1 credit, a chapter draft 2 and a chapter rewrite 1. Failed requests return customer credits, although Google may still charge the service for attempted generation. No automatic paid retries. One writing request per account runs at a time, with a six-request-per-minute ceiling and 20 requests per account per UTC day. Books allow up to eight chapters, 24,000 characters per chapter and 15,000 source-note characters. Imports allow 6 MB, 100,000 characters and 75 PDF pages. Images allow PNG/JPEG up to 2 MB and four million pixels each, fifty per book and 100 MB per account.

Do not share accounts, resell automated access, run unattended bulk generation or bypass limits. Service-wide concurrency, storage, provider quotas and daily/monthly/cumulative spending controls also apply. At a limit, new writing pauses without deducting credits; existing books, manual editing and exports remain available. Early-access capacity is limited and availability is not guaranteed. Contact support if a service limit prevents use of your purchased allowance. Abusive use or payment disputes may suspend generation while reviewed.

Storage, privacy & providers

Cloudflare hosts the site and stores account records, manuscripts, uploaded images, revisions, support requests and usage records in the hosted database. Passwords are salted and hashed; session cookies are HTTP-only. There are no third-party advertising scripts in the studio. Operational counts record product actions; manuscripts are not included in those counts. Do not upload highly sensitive information or third-party secrets.

When you request AI writing, the brief, notes, outline, selected chapter and limited continuity excerpts are sent to Google’s paid Gemini API. Resend processes account-email delivery and the recipient’s address. Stripe processes checkout, subscriptions and payment details on its hosted pages; Folio does not collect card numbers. These providers process data under their own service terms and privacy policies. Records may be processed outside your country.

Download project backups and your private account data from Account & billing. Manuscript backups restore text and design as a new project; re-upload illustrations separately. Account-data exports also include image data and history for your records. Cloudflare’s managed database recovery can retain prior states for up to 30 days; recovery is an operator task, not a customer restore button. Keep independent copies of important work.

Deletion & account safety

Moving a book to Trash is reversible. Permanent deletion removes the active manuscript, images and revisions. Account deletion requires your password and removes active workspace data and credentials; minimal payment reconciliation records are retained without the account linkage. Stripe retains payment records under its own requirements. Existing recovery copies expire on their separate retention cycle and are not retroactively erased. Cancel and finish any subscription before deleting the account. Use support for privacy requests you cannot complete in the product.

Verification links are single use and expire after 24 hours. Password-reset links are single use and expire after 30 minutes; a successful reset signs out existing sessions. Never send passwords, API keys or card details through support. The service is supplied as an early-access product, with no guaranteed response time, uptime, revenue or publishing outcome.
